Water is beginning to travel down the channel country! Kati Thanda - Lake Eyre South is currently at 1.5m, Madigan Gulf 500mm and Belt Bay 800mm. The salt lake is changing colours and inviting new life into the arid desert. How long it will last will depend on continued rainfall over the coming months, but we love the lake no matter what the colour–always a spectacular sight!

Our next stop takes us into the Flinders Ranges to the stunning 610 sq km Wilderness Sanctuary, Arkaroola. We traverse across the channel country into the desert to the ancient peaks of the granite mountains, and spinifex-covered hillsides await. With the geological history spanning nearly 2 billion years, if only the rocks could talk!

Flying over the salt lake is like watching a painting come to life. The earthy tones swirl and blend along the salt flat, as the rolling dunes and stone-strewn tablelands make way for the salty clay pans.
